Before purchasing: Choose the right USB headlamp for traveling!
First essential configuration, the intensity of the lighting. A headlamp should have at least 300 lumens to be effective when traveling. Second and third points, the lighting distance and the duration of use: the greater the better! Then, the water resistance and the solidity of the lamp for risk-free handling. Also prefer lamps with adjustable lighting and/or red/green light to avoid dazzling our companions or the animals we encounter. Finally, choose elastic bands that are firm but flexible for greater comfort. If you don’t have a power source, you prefer non-rechargeable headlamps like the EverBrite or the Black Diamond Spot 235. On the other hand, if you bring a power bank, you opt for the Petzl Actik CORE rechargeable lamp or the BioLite 330 which are one of the lightest on the market. My Conclusion and Opinion
Although most of our smartphones now have an integrated torch, this is unsuitable for locating things more than 2m away, especially when traveling. However, whether we buy a usb rechargeable headlamp or not before leaving, you must always make sure you have a way to keep it functional. We then carry excess spare batteries in a waterproof bag, a power bank or external batteries charged compatible with our lamp. There is nothing more disabling than being without lights at night in the middle of nowhere, for both children and adults.
